Head Coach: Simon Elphick
Back in 2015, a friend and I started a Saturday morning mini kick about on the Jubilee Field in Clavering. Several children who attended the kick about with their parents have since moved up to Manuden JFC as we sought a more structured club environment for them. It is with the same ethos of family, friends and fun that I helped run the U9s with Julian Betts and James Free in 2018/2019, took on the U9s myself in 2019/2020 and will manage U10s, for whom my son James now plays, in 2020/2021.
Whereas winning is nice, I believe passing is nicer at this level. Success for the U10s this season will be playing high tempo football with every player ready, willing and able to pass and receive the ball with confidence. The Passer of Match trophy will be coveted once more.
Whereas my playing days were curtailed by long-term injury, I was immersed in football from an early age and have held a Newcastle United season-ticket since 1988. Having seen some good and much bad in that time, I will strive to ensure that our U10 squad is more Keegan than Kinnear!
